White House: Israeli operation in Rafah is not imminent

John Kirby announced that there is no evidence of an imminent Israeli military attack on Rafah.

Rafah, the southernmost area in the Gaza Strip, is now home to one million and 500,000 Palestinian refugees who have taken refuge in this area to escape the attacks of the Zionist regime. However, the Zionist authorities have repeatedly spoken about the necessity of conducting ground operations in Rafah to completely destroy Hamas; An issue that has caused severe international concerns.

According to Al Jazeera, the White House announced today (Monday) that there are no signs that an Israeli ground attack on Rafah is imminent.

John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security Council, told reporters: Jake Sullivan, US national security adviser, is going to meet Yair Lapid, the former prime minister of Israel and the leader of Netanyahu’s opposition.

Referring to the effort to talk with the Zionist authorities about the operation in Rafah, he pointed out: We are looking for consultation with the Tel Aviv authorities about the operation in Rafah. However, no plans have been made yet to start talks with the Israeli side regarding the attack on Rafah.

Kirbi continued on the ongoing negotiations between Hamas and the Zionist authorities in Cairo, adding: The truth is that reaching an agreement to establish a ceasefire in Gaza now depends on the decision of Hamas. In the past few days, a cease-fire proposal was made to Hamas, and now it is the group that must decide on a possible agreement.

Hamas officials say that due to the persistence of the Zionists in not giving concessions, such as the non-return of Palestinian refugees to the northern areas of Gaza, the complete withdrawal of the Zionist military from this strip, and the opposition to the release of Palestinian prisoners against the release of Zionist prisoners, an agreement has been reached. It is difficult with the Zionist side.
