Saudi Arabia does not recognize Israel without a two-state solution
Saudi Arabia's ambassador in Washington announced in an interview that Saudi Arabia will not recognize Israel without a two-state solution. |
Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Washington told the New York Times that Riyadh is firm in its position on Israel and will recognize Israel only after taking an irreversible path towards a two-state solution.
Princess Rima Bint Bandar Al Saud added in an interview with this American publication: “Riyadh will not sign any agreement without concrete commitments that serve the cause of Palestine.” He emphasized that the two-state solution should be final, clear and within a specific time frame. Establishing relations with Israel is still available, but requires a commitment to the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, recently said that a two-state solution is the only way to establish security in the region. According to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Sharq TV channel, he noted that the time has come to focus all efforts towards a two-state solution.
Discussions related to the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and the Zionist regime were stopped after the October 7 attack, but the consultations have resumed in recent months. As part of a compromise deal, Saudi Arabia wants to sign a mutual defense pact with Washington and support its civilian nuclear program.
