Blinken’s consultation with the foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan about Iran

The US Secretary of State has discussed Iran with the Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Jordan.

In two separate statements on Saturday morning (Tehran time), the US Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken discussed with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Sameh Shokri”, the foreign minister of Egypt informed about developments in the region and Iran.

While Israel’s attack on an Iranian diplomatic headquarters in Syria has been the main cause of the intensification of regional tensions in the past days, Blinken has tried to introduce Iran as a possible cause of the escalation of tension in these talks.

According to the explanation of the US State Department, Blinken emphasized the necessity of “preventing the escalation of tensions in the region by Iran” in his meeting with Safadi in the Jordanian capital.

Blinken’s consultation with Sameh Shokri was by phone. “Matthew Miller”, the spokesman of the US State Department, said that the most senior US diplomat in this conversation “stressed that the escalation of tension by Iran is not in the interest of anyone in the region.”

This claim about Iran was made by the US Secretary of State while Washington has not yet condemned Israel’s attack on the Iranian consular building in Damascus, which was a violation of international law.

In addition, in the Security Council meeting that took place a few days after Israel attacked the Iranian consular building, the administration of “Joe Biden” prevented the approval of a statement condemning that regime for the Damascus attack.

Israel attacked Iran’s consular section in Damascus on Monday, April 13. This attack was carried out with F-35 fighters and firing 6 missiles.
