According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Tass, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced on Tuesday that energy resources are a means of blackmail by the West from countries that oppose its policies.

The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry considered the unwillingness of Brussels to support Hungary and Slovakia in the case of the disruption of the oil flow through Ukraine as proof of this.

The Russian official added that the reluctance of the European Union to intervene in this matter is not surprising for Russia, as Hungary and Slovakia are the only EU member states that have a policy This union has opposed sending military aid to Ukraine.

Zakharova said that the West uses energy resources not only as a tool for political battle, but also for direct pressure and blackmail from other countries.

In early July, the Ukrainian government stopped the transfer of crude oil from its main supplier Russia through the Druzhba pipeline, citing sanctions against Russia. As a result, two countries, Hungary and Slovakia, were deprived of access to oil that supplies up to 40% of their needs.

Budapest and Bratislava asked the European Union to mediate in this dispute, but Brussels rejected this request and claimed that it needed time to obtain evidence and assess its legal status. needs.
