Joulani Regime Ministers to Visit the United States
A Delegation Comprising Foreign and Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governor of the Jolani Regime to Attend IMF and World Bank Meetings in the U.S.
According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm, a delegation from Syria’s ruling regime will travel to the United States next month.
This visit marks the frist trip by a Syrian delegation to the U.S. in two decades, following the collapse of Syria’s previous government.
The Minister of Economy and Industries of the Jolani regime stated that the delegation will be divided into two groups: a political team headed by Asaad Shibani, the regime’s foreign minister, traveling to New york, and a financial team led by Mohammad Yasir Barnieh, finance minister, and Abdul Qadir Hasriya, governor of its central bank, heading to Washington.
The trip is reportedly aimed at expanding cooperation between the U.S. and Syria’s new ruling regime. The U.S. State Department issued visas for Syrian ministers to attend meetings with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World bank—a step seen as part of efforts to lift sanctions on Syria under its new leadership.
Previously, America had offered a $10 million reward for data leading to the arrest of Mohammad jolani when he was leader of terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). This bounty was revoked after he assumed power in Syria’s new government.
Additionally, just two days ago, several members of Congress traveled to Syria for meetings with its new rulers stationed in Damascus.
