Lavrov: The U.S. Does Not Provide Tomahawk Missiles to Just Anyone
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RT, Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated he does not believe the United States will provide Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles.
Lavrov believes the US has yet to make a final decision on supplying Tomahawks to Ukraine. He added, “Americans do not give Tomahawks to just anyone.”
He emphasized that American statements about sending Tomahawk missiles reflect pressure from Europe on Washington; the US wants to show it values its allies’ opinions.
The senior Russian diplomat also said that even if Tomahawks were supplied, it would not change conditions on the battlefield.
Lavrov’s remarks responded to comments made yesterday by JD Vance, former Vice President Donald Trump’s adviser, who said Washington would consider Kyiv’s request for long-range missiles.
Earlier Western media outlets-including the Wall Street Journal and The Telegraph-reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy specifically requested long-range weapons and Tomahawk missiles during his meeting with Trump at the UN General Assembly in New York last week.
