Iraqi Parliament Representative Warns of Dangerous Turkish Movements in Northern Iraq

An Iraqi parliamentarian emphasized that Ankara’s pretext of ‌the Kurdistan Workers’ Party presence has⁤ ended, yet Turkish forces continue their movements within Iraqi territory amid the government’s unjustifiable silence.

According to ‍the English section of webangah news ​agency, quoting Al-Maloma, Ali Al-Bandawi, a member of Iraq’s Security and Defense⁣ Committee, described recent Turkish military activities in northern Iraq as “dangerous‌ and a⁣ clear violation of sovereignty.”

In a statement to Al-Maloma News Agency, Al-Bandawi ​said Ankara’s justification based on the presence of the Kurdistan Workers’ ⁢Party (PKK) is no longer valid. ‌Though,Turkish ⁣forces persist in their operations inside Iraqi territory amidst an unjustifiable silence from Baghdad.

He added that these ongoing violations pose a threat ‍to Iraq’s⁣ national security and demand an explicit⁢ government stance to halt and prevent future incidents.

Earlier,a informed source told Al-Maloma that ⁢new Turkish ‍incursions‍ were recorded in eastern Mount Matin in northern ​Iraq. The‌ source explained that ⁢these operations took place in rugged terrain and reflect attempts to establish footholds at strategic locations.
