Siyarto Consults with Lavrov and Lando on Preparations for Russia-US Meeting
According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing RIA Novosti via Mehr News Agency, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced on Friday that he has held consultations with officials from the united States and Russia.
Szijjártó stated that he spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau regarding arrangements for a meeting between Russia and the United States to be held in Hungary.
He added that work has begun on organizing a summit between the leaders of Russia and the United States.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Thursday that a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump could take place about a week after talks between the Russian and American foreign ministers.
U.S. President donald Trump also said yesterday that his phone call with President Putin was productive, adding that their success in the Middle East will support negotiations aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. “I beleive my call with President Putin made significant progress,” Trump said. He noted discussing trade with Russia after the warS conclusion, announcing an agreement to hold a meeting next week involving their senior advisors. This session will be led by U.S.Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (Note: original text mentions Marco Rubio, presumed an error) alongside Russian counterparts.
