Lithuania Closes Border with Belarus, Emphasizes Downing Unauthorized Balloons

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė‌ announced on Monday, following a National Security Council meeting, that the⁤ government will close its ⁣border with Belarus except for diplomats and EU⁣ citizens leaving Belarus, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, ​citing ⁢The Guardian.

She stated that‍ Lithuania will shoot down ​any further balloons entering⁤ its airspace. “By ‌downing ⁤these balloons, we send a clear message to Belarus: hybrid attacks will not be tolerated and⁣ we will⁤ implement the strictest measures to prevent such incursions,”‍ Šimonytė said.
