Trump Urges Russia to End Ukraine War Instead of Testing Missiles

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu, Donald Trump told reporters aboard his private plane flying from Malaysia to Japan that Russia should prioritize ending the war in Ukraine rather than conducting new missile tests. His remarks came a day after Moscow announced a prosperous test of its nuclear-powered burevestnik cruise missile.
Trump downplayed Russia’s missile test, stating, “We have a nuclear submarine near Russian shores that doesn’t need to travel such distances. We are always testing missiles. It is better to end this war than test missiles.”
Since beginning his second presidential term in January, Trump has pursued efforts to end the Ukraine conflict. In August, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin but later canceled a planned meeting this month in Budapest, saying he did not want a “fruitless summit.”
Reports indicate that Russia has yet to accept U.S. and European calls for halting hostilities along current frontlines.
U.S. and China Near Trade Agreement; TikTok Decision Expected Soon
Trump also announced that Washington and Beijing are close to reaching a trade agreement ahead of his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping amid pending decisions over TikTok’s future.
“I have great respect for president Xi,” Trump said, adding they expect to finalize an agreement from their talks. He suggested the TikTok deal could be signed by Thursday.
During the first stop on his week-long Asia trip, Trump signed several trade and mining agreements with Malaysia and Cambodia and laid frameworks for trade pacts with Thailand and Vietnam. Malaysia also pledged not to impose bans or quotas on rare earth element exports to the U.S.
