Kremlin: Burevestnik Missile Should Not Affect Moscow-Washington Relations

Dmitry peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, stated that Russia’s nuclear missile tests of the Burevestnik system should not impact relations between Moscow and Washington, which are currently at their lowest levels.
“There is nothing that could or should further overshadow the relations between Moscow and Washington, especially since these relations are already at their lowest point,” Peskov said.
He added that so far only tentative initial steps have been taken to lift the bilateral ties from their previous stagnation.
The Russian Armed Forces General Staff reported to President Vladimir Putin yesterday that tests of the Burevestnik missile at a nuclear facility were successfully completed. the weapon can travel long distances at low altitudes, reducing its vulnerability to air defense systems.
Since Donald Trump took office in the United States, Moscow and Washington have sought to normalize bilateral relations. However, Washington has recently taken unfriendly actions including imposing sanctions on Russia’s oil sector aimed at what it calls reaching an agreement on the Ukraine conflict.
Moscow has emphasized it will not make decisions under pressure and stressed these actions will not help normalize relations. Additionally, such measures only drive up global energy prices and primarily harm American consumers.
