Tel Aviv Responds to Saudi Arabia’s Push to Acquire F-35 Fighters

A Hebrew-language newspaper reacted to Saudi Arabia’s request to purchase dozens of F-35 fighter jets from the United States.

The English⁣ section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, reported that⁢ the Hebrew-language newspaper yedioth Ahronoth responded to news of Saudi Arabia’s effort to acquire F-35 jets from the U.S. by stating that this move reflects Washington’s unprecedented approval for equipping Saudi Arabia with its most‌ advanced fighter aircraft.

The paper explicitly expressed concern over this advancement.

Yedioth Ahronoth added that this agreement comes amid extensive talks through which Saudi Arabia⁢ seeks to sign a thorough defence pact with ‌the United States.

The⁢ report⁢ noted that these actions mark a important shift in long-standing U.S. policy over past decades, which⁢ has refrained from selling advanced fighters to Arab countries without public normalization ties with Tel Aviv.

Last night, reuters exclusively reported that the Trump management is considering Saudi Arabia’s request to purchase up to 48 F-35 fighter jets.

two informed sources said this potential multi-billion-dollar deal has cleared a major hurdle‍ within the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) ahead of Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit.

An informed individual and a U.S. official told reuters that Saudi Arabia had⁣ made a direct request for F-35s earlier this year to President Donald Trump and has long⁤ been interested in these jets manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
