Human Rights Organizations Warn of Mass Executions of Palestinian Prisoners

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Quds News Network, Palestinian human rights organizations issued a warning on Monday about the potential for mass executions of palestinian prisoners by the Israeli regime if the proposed death penalty bill is approved by the Knesset.
The report states that nine Palestinian human rights groups, in a joint statement, emphasized that israeli occupation authorities have carried out executions for years through various methods, even before any official law was enacted.
These organizations highlighted that the most hazardous aspect of this bill is its retroactive application, which is unprecedented in criminal law and would take effect immediately upon issuance and publication.
The statement also noted that israel’s cabinet-and specifically Itamar Ben-Gvir, Minister of Internal Security-is pursuing legal cover for mass executions through this bill.the law could target hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, including members of the Al-Qassam Brigades detained during or after operations on October 7, 2023.
In early November, Israel’s Knesset National Security Committee approved forwarding this bill to a plenary session for a first reading vote. This move sparked widespread criticism from Palestinian groups and also regional and international actors.
The bill stipulates the death penalty for anyone who intentionally or negligently causes the death of an Israeli settler.
