Turkish FM: Russia-Ukraine War Has No Winner, Security Council Reform Needed

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Monday that the Russia-Ukraine war has no winner, emphasizing the need for reforms in the UN Security Council and highlighting Turkey’s role in Gaza ceasefire efforts.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed critical international issues on Monday, focusing on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Palestinian situation, and the stability of Syria.

Fidan reiterated Turkey‘s clear and principled stance on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the country’s key role in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza. He highlighted Turkey’s commitment to hosting peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, underscoring the belief that the ongoing conflict benefits neither side.

“The Russia-Ukraine war has no winner, and we will continue to host consultations for peace talks between the two parties,” Fidan stated.

Turning to Syria, Fidan stressed the importance of a stable Syria for regional stability, affirming Turkey’s continued support for the Syrian people. He stated, “A stable Syria will contribute greatly to the region, and we will continue to stand firmly and decisively by the Syrian people!”

Furthermore, Fidan addressed the necessity for reforms within the United Nations system, particularly the Security Council, to effectively address deadlocks in the international arena. He emphasized that these reforms are essential for the UN to fulfill its mandate in maintaining global peace and security.
