Hungarian FM Warns Ukraine’s EU Membership Threatens War in Europe

Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has stated that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union would pose a threat of war for Europe, rather than providing security guarantees for Kyiv. He also raised concerns about the EU’s approach to sanctions against Russia.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó voiced strong concerns on Monday, asserting that Ukraine’s potential membership in the European Union represents a significant threat of war for the entire continent.

Szijjártó stated that the EU’s plan to relocate the mission for training Ukrainian soldiers to Hungarian soil is a red line for his country. He also noted Europe’s determination to maintain sanctions against Russia, even if the United States were to lift them.

Furthermore, Szijjártó highlighted the EU’s intention to allocate €200 billion of frozen Russian assets to Kyiv, with €120 billion earmarked for military equipment. He warned that this action could escalate into a broader conflict between Russia and Europe, with potentially devastating consequences.
