Venezuela’s Maduro Advocates for Peace Amid US Economic Sanctions
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has reiterated that peace remains the sole honorable path for Venezuela, the Caribbean, and Latin America. His remarks come amid escalating US sanctions, including a reported directive to military forces to tighten the economic blockade on Venezuela’s oil sector over the next two months.
A US official disclosed that while military options remain on the table, the current focus is on ramping up economic pressure. Tensions between the US and Venezuela have intensified in recent years due to Washington’s unilateral sanctions, particularly targeting energy and maritime transport.
Caracas has condemned these measures as an economic blockade and a violation of international law, repeatedly protesting the seizure of ships and mounting US pressure. Analysts suggest the sanctions aim to weaken Maduro’s government and force a shift in Venezuela’s domestic and foreign policies.
