Hamas Releases Detailed Report on Al-Aqsa Storm Operation Two Years After Its Launch

Hamas has published a comprehensive document detailing the motivations, execution, and outcomes of its 2023 Al-Aqsa Storm operation, while accusing Israel of violating ceasefire agreements and committing genocide in Gaza.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas has released a detailed report marking the second anniversary of its Al-Aqsa Storm operation, which began in October 2023. The document outlines the group’s strategic objectives, the historical context of the conflict, and Israel’s alleged war crimes in Gaza.

The report, published as a booklet, connects the 2023 operation to the 1920 revolutions and the 1948 occupation of Palestine, framing it as a response to decades of displacement and suppression. It highlights the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which grew from 280,000 settlers in 1993 to 950,000 by 2023, and criticizes the failure of political solutions like the Oslo Accords.

Hamas describes the Al-Aqsa Storm as a preemptive strike against an imminent Israeli attack, citing intelligence about a planned Shin Bet operation targeting its leadership. The group denies targeting civilians, instead accusing Israel of implementing the ‘Hannibal Protocol’—a military doctrine involving the killing of Israeli civilians to prevent soldier captives.

The document details Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which Hamas claims has resulted in 67,100 Palestinian deaths, including 20,000 children and 12,500 women, along with 9,500 missing and 196,500 injured. It also accuses Israel of systematic torture, field executions, and desecration of bodies.

Hamas emphasizes its efforts to negotiate a ceasefire, blaming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for prolonging the war to avoid accountability for the October 7 failures. The report concludes by asserting Hamas’s resilience and popular support, citing a May 2025 poll showing 77% of Palestinians reject disarming Hamas in exchange for peace.
