Russia Confirms French Interference in African Coup Attempts

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service has accused France of seeking political revenge in Africa, including attempts to overthrow Madagascar’s new president and supporting terrorist groups in the region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Foreign Intelligence Service has issued a statement confirming France’s interference in African political affairs. The statement alleges that the French government, led by President Emmanuel Macron, is actively seeking opportunities for political retaliation across the continent.

The Russian intelligence agency claims Paris is exploring ways to overthrow Madagascar’s newly elected president and reinstate military leaders loyal to French interests. The statement further asserts that France’s involvement in a failed coup attempt in Burkina Faso on January 3, 2026, has been definitively established.

In a more alarming revelation, the Russian report accuses France of directly supporting terrorist organizations, identifying these groups as Paris’s primary allies in Africa. The intelligence service warns that France and Ukraine are collaborating to train and equip terrorists with the aim of destabilizing the Sahel and Sahara regions.

The statement concludes by asserting that France continues to seek opportunities to create chaos in the Central African Republic, maintaining its pattern of disruptive intervention in African nations.
