Sudan Rapid Support Forces Drone Attack Kills 3 Aid Workers

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Doctors Network for Sudan, a non-governmental organization operating in the country, announced on Thursday that several trucks carrying humanitarian aid in the Kartala region of South Kordofan State were targeted by a drone attack. The strike was reportedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and the armed wing of Abdelaziz al-Hilu’s Popular Movement. The attack led to the complete destruction of the aid vehicles.
As a result of this attack, which took place while the aid workers were performing their duties, three humanitarian staff members lost their lives, and four others were injured. The exact identity of the convoy, whether local or international, has not yet been fully clarified. These trucks were carrying food and essential supplies intended for civilians in the Kadugli and Ed Damazine areas, whose siege was recently broken.
The medical network strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a clear violation of international humanitarian law and all norms related to the criminalization of assaults on healthcare personnel. The Doctors Network for Sudan has called on the international community to exert effective pressure on the commanders of the Rapid Support Forces to ensure the protection of aid convoys and their staff, and to open safe passages for aid delivery. The necessity of holding the perpetrators of this attack accountable was also emphasized.
The Rapid Support Forces have not yet responded to this news, while Sudanese officials and human rights organizations accuse these forces of deliberately targeting civilian facilities. Previously, the U.S. Department of State announced sanctions against three members of the Rapid Support Forces for committing war crimes and gross human rights violations in Sudan. Last week, Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also held the Rapid Support Forces responsible for a drone attack on a World Food Programme aid convoy in North Kordofan.
Intense clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been ongoing since October 2025 in the Kordofan states (North, West, and South). Since April 2023, these two groups have been engaged in conflict due to disagreements over the integration of the Rapid Support Forces into the army. This conflict has led to famine, tens of thousands of deaths, and the displacement of approximately 13 million Sudanese, creating one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
