Turkey Urges Negotiation to Resolve US-Iran Crisis

Ankara hopes the United States and Iran will pursue dialogue and avoid military escalation to resolve their current crisis, according to Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. He emphasized the importance of continued discussions between the two nations and expressed optimism for reaching an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkey‘s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that Ankara hopes the United States and Iran will find no alternative but to negotiate and refrain from military actions or war to resolve the current crisis between them. Following the first Peace Council meeting in Washington, Fidan stressed the significance of continuing dialogues between the two countries, stating that there are multiple reasons for optimism and expressing hope for an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. He further added that military movements are also underway, and Turkey is closely monitoring whether these movements aim to pressure ongoing negotiations or prepare for a military operation that has already been decided upon. The Turkish Foreign Minister indicated that it remains to be seen how and when these signs will translate into actionable steps, what the parties’ interpretations of these actions will be, and how their decisions will be guided in the next phase, noting that they are currently at a sensitive juncture.
