Magnitude 7.1 Earthquake Strikes Off Malaysian Coast

A powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake has shaken the coasts of Malaysia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The seismic event occurred in waters near Kota Kinabalu, with tremors felt across western coastal areas and parts of Sarawak.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Geological Survey has reported a 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the coasts of Malaysia. The seismic event occurred at 12:57 AM local time on Monday, February 23rd, in the waters surrounding the city of Kota Kinabalu. Tremors from this earthquake were felt across the entire west coast and several regions of Sarawak, Malaysia.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department has stated that it is continuing to monitor the situation. Initial reports indicate a possibility of a tsunami, however, Malaysian officials have not yet released any official statement regarding this.
