China Calls for De-escalation in Strait of Hormuz Amidst Regional Conflict

China is actively engaging with all parties involved and urging for calm and a reduction of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, as regional conflict escalates following military actions against Iran.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China announced in a statement that it is in contact with all parties and calls for peace and a reduction of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Previously, the Chinese Foreign Minister, in a phone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart, addressed the consequences of the war against Iran, emphasizing that influential countries should call on the involved parties to halt the conflict.

Wang Yi stated in his call with Badr Abdelatty that China and Egypt, as responsible nations, advocate for the resolution of regional issues through dialogue and consultation and oppose the use of force. He added that the continuation of the war against Iran is not beneficial for the people of the Middle East and would have a significant negative impact on the region’s economy, undermining regional and global security and stability.

The senior Chinese diplomat further emphasized that an immediate ceasefire is the demand and consensus of the international community, and all parties should urge the involved parties to press the end-of-war button as soon as possible to prevent further escalation of tensions.

Wang Yi concluded by noting that China is willing to maintain communication and coordination with regional countries, including Egypt, and will continue to play a constructive role in striving for peace.

The military invasion of Iran by the United States and the Zionist regime commenced on February 28, 2026. Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with a group of military commanders and Iranian citizens, were martyred in these attacks. In response to the aggressions by the United States and the Zionist regime, Iran’s armed forces targeted American bases in the region and occupied territories.
