US Embassy in Kyiv Denies Reports of Diplomat Evacuation

The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has officially refuted claims of American diplomats departing the Ukrainian capital, asserting that the embassy remains operational. This statement follows earlier remarks suggesting a partial closure of diplomatic missions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has denied reports circulating about the withdrawal of American diplomats from the Ukrainian capital, emphasizing that the embassy continues to be open and active. These reports emerged following earlier statements by Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who had indicated that all embassies except the U.S. mission in Kyiv remained open.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Monday announcing that the Russian Armed Forces would conduct strikes against military-industrial facilities in Kyiv in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilians. The statement further specified that decision-making centers and command posts in Ukraine would be targeted by the Russian military.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement cited the attack by Ukrainian armed forces on the Starobelsk College in Luhansk as further evidence of the “Nazi and terrorist nature of the Kyiv regime.” This assertion was made in the context of international scrutiny over actions in the conflict zone.

Kremlin spokespersons have previously commented on the lack of official condemnation from Western nations regarding actions attributed to Kyiv in the Luhansk incident. The spokesperson stated that no official statements condemning Ukraine’s attack on the student dormitory and college in Starobelsk, Luhansk region, had been observed.

The Starobelsk massacre refers to a drone attack attributed to the Ukrainian armed forces on the evening of Friday, May 22, 2026, targeting administrative buildings and dormitories of the “Luhansk State Pedagogical University.” The incident reportedly resulted in numerous civilian casualties, with dozens killed and injured.
