Trump and Al-Shar’ Discuss Support for Syrian Economy

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syrian state news agency SANA reported on Sunday that Syrian leader Ahmad Al-Shar’ held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments.
During the call, Al-Shar’ stressed the importance of continued international support for Syria during its reconstruction phase and for improving domestic conditions. He stated that lifting remaining sanctions could be a vital step toward reviving Syria’s economy and enhancing the living standards of its citizens.
He further elaborated that the end of sanctions could pave the way for encouraging investment and the return of economic and development projects to critical sectors in Syria, which he believes would be effective in strengthening the development process and stabilizing the internal situation.
The two leaders also reviewed the region’s security developments and the challenges arising from ongoing tensions. Ahmad Al-Shar’ underscored the necessity of prioritizing diplomatic solutions and dialogue to resolve crises, viewing it as a significant factor in preventing escalation and promoting regional security and stability.
Conversely, Donald Trump, as announced by SANA, expressed his interest in following developments in Syria and the region, and emphasized the importance of maintaining stability and supporting the reconstruction and recovery process in Syria.
At the conclusion of the phone call, both sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination on issues of mutual interest to serve the interests of both countries and contribute to regional security and stability.
