New York Times: Trump Faces Stalemates on Global Issues

The New York Times reports that U.S. President Donald Trump’s initial promises for swift resolution of international crises are encountering complex political and military realities, leading to stalemates in Ukraine, Gaza, and Iran.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The New York Times has reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has entered a phase where his initial promises regarding the rapid resolution of international crises have collided with complex political and military realities.

The newspaper stated that in Ukraine, Gaza, and now Iran, Trump’s early declarations of easy victories have been replaced by harsh realities.

Regarding Iran, the New York Times noted that after announcing a ceasefire, Trump had stipulated the full and secure reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a condition for ending the conflicts. However, this objective has not been fully achieved. Furthermore, the future of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs remains contingent on negotiations that are expected to last at least 60 days. Analysts believe that Tehran, aware of Trump’s limited inclination to resume hostilities, will attempt to prolong the negotiations.

The American media outlet wrote that in the Ukraine case, Trump, who had pledged to end the war within 24 hours, has not achieved success 16 months into his presidency. Russia also desires a long-term diplomatic process rather than intermittent negotiations.

The New York Times added that in Gaza, Trump’s ambitious plans for disarming Hamas and extensive reconstruction of the area have seen no progress. The U.S. President is now confronted with the reality that resolving complex global disputes is far more difficult than he initially imagined.
