European Union Urges Israel to Cease Military Escalation and Respect Lebanon’s Sovereignty
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the European Union on Monday issued a statement urging Israel to cease its military escalation against Lebanon and respect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The bloc also reiterated its support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
During a press briefing, Anya Nuhnen, spokesperson for the European Commission, stated, “We call on Israel to stop its military escalation in Lebanon and to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon.”
Nuhnen also called for continued diplomatic engagement to achieve a negotiated path toward long-term stability, without referencing Israel’s consistent record of violating its commitments. She added, “The people of Lebanon have already endured great hardship. They did not choose this war, and this war is not theirs.”
The European Commission spokesperson claimed, “The European Union stands with the people of Lebanon and will continue to provide emergency support and assistance to help authorities respond to the ongoing crisis. The EU’s commitment to Lebanon’s security and stability is unwavering!”
This comes as the Israeli regime continues its aggression against Lebanon, further violating its commitments and agreements in this regard.
