Trump Favors Diplomatic Deal with Iran, Claims Hezbollah Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump stated a preference for a diplomatic agreement with Iran, asserting that negotiations are progressing positively and that direct talks have occurred with Hezbollah, though these claims are met with counter-narratives regarding ongoing conflict in Lebanon.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated his preference for reaching a diplomatic agreement with Iran, asserting that such a deal could achieve the desired outcomes through negotiation. Trump stated that if a written agreement is attainable, it would be Washington’s favored path. He further claimed that negotiations are moving in a positive direction.

In a repeated assertion regarding the proximity of an agreement, Trump urged Iran to sign a deal with the United States, calling it a significant achievement that is now “very close.” Separately, President Trump alleged that the U.S. has engaged in direct conversations with Hezbollah for the first time, and that the group has agreed not to attack Israel. This claim comes amidst ongoing, legitimate retaliatory attacks by Hezbollah against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, in response to Israeli assaults. Hezbollah’s resistance has confirmed drone attacks targeting Israeli soldiers stationed near the historic Shqif Castle.

Addressing developments in Lebanon, Trump also commented that the conditions for a ceasefire in Lebanon differ from those in other global conflict zones. These statements follow an announcement by Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif on April 8th (March 29th), who declared that a ceasefire between Iran, the U.S., and their allies had become effective immediately across all areas of engagement, including Lebanon. Sharif had posted on social media expressing his pleasure at announcing the agreement for an immediate ceasefire with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, along with their allies, which he stated was effective from that moment in Lebanon and other locations.
