UN Chief Guterres Demands Israeli Withdrawal from Lebanese Territory

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called for Israel’s complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory and urged all parties to respect a ceasefire amid escalating tensions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the declaration of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon following a tripartite meeting in Washington, expressing support for efforts to end hostilities in the country. Guterres stated that he hopes the agreement between Lebanon and Israel will contribute to achieving peace and stability.

The UN Secretary-General, who has consistently expressed concern over regional developments, emphasized the need for full respect of the ceasefire and a halt to all attacks in Lebanon. He urged Hezbollah and other influential parties within the country to adhere to government decisions.

Guterres specifically called on Israel to withdraw from the northern Blue Line and respect Lebanon’s sovereignty. These remarks come at a time when the Israeli regime announced last week that communications between Tel Aviv and the UN Secretary-General’s office have been suspended. This decision was reportedly made in response to Israel being placed on a blacklist of entities that use sexual violence in conflict zones.
