India Confirms Three Indian Sailors Killed in US Attack on Oil Tanker

Three Indian sailors reported missing after a U.S. attack on an oil tanker near the coast of Oman have been confirmed dead, according to India’s Minister of Shipping, Sarbananda Sonowal.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, India‘s Minister of Shipping, Sarbananda Sonowal, announced on Thursday that three Indian sailors, who had been missing following a U.S. attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, have been confirmed deceased. The Secretary-General of the Indian Seafarers’ Union, Manoj Yadav, also corroborated this information.

This development follows India’s summoning of the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires on Wednesday to protest Washington’s strike on the Indian-flagged oil tanker. Nagraj Naidu, Deputy Secretary of India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), summoned Jason McKew, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in New Delhi, to demand an explanation for the attack.

The incident occurred after New Delhi strongly condemned the attack on the oil tanker “M/T Marivex,” flagged by Palau, which was carrying 28 crew members, including 24 Indian nationals. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed it had attacked the vessel as it was reportedly attempting to move towards Iranian waters.
