Israeli Newspaper Haaretz Blames Netanyahu for Strategic Defeat Against Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, in its editorial published on Thursday, has criticized Israeli Prime Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The paper emphasized that his “disastrous decision” to involve the United States in a joint war with Iran and deploy the Israeli army to southern Lebanon has resulted in a strategic defeat for Israel against its “biggest and most dangerous enemy,” Iran. Furthermore, it has weakened American support for Tel Aviv.
The newspaper acknowledged that the war against Iran, which began with the “false illusion” of overthrowing its government and continued with the expectation of an “easy victory” over Hezbollah, has been an irresponsible adventure.
Continuing its admissions regarding the conflict in the region, Haaretz stressed that Iran has emerged stronger from the war, having established greater deterrence against Israel. It has imposed the unification of fronts and rejected the demands made by Donald Trump to reduce its nuclear program.
Haaretz also admitted that Hezbollah has recovered from the assassination of its Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in 2024, and from the losses suffered by its military forces.
Tel Aviv Loses Strategic Assets
In a related development, Israel’s Channel 13 acknowledged that Iran has succeeded in undermining Israel’s deterrence capabilities. Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Tel Aviv is entering multiple phases of confrontation with Iran, thereby losing its “most important strategic assets.” The channel admitted that Tehran has succeeded in reconnecting fronts after three years of conflict.
Channel 12 added that no one within the security and military institutions could have envisioned such a scenario emerging from the war with Iran, as Israel has achieved no success in confronting the existential threats it faces.
