Lebanon and Israel Set for Fifth Round of Maritime Border Talks in Washington

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency,
A Lebanese official source has confirmed that the fifth round of maritime border negotiations with Israel will begin on June 22nd in Washington. This crucial round of discussions is expected to address the specifics of an Israeli withdrawal based on “trial zones.”
The source elaborated that military members will be part of the Lebanese delegation for this round, highlighting its significance in determining the extent of Israel’s disengagement. The concept of “trial zones” refers to areas where a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces will coincide with the deployment of the Lebanese army and the implementation of a plan to “monopolize arms.”
Following Israel’s previous objection to selecting Bint Jbeil as the initial trial zone, which led to a suspension of talks, both parties have now agreed on Nabatieh as the first trial zone. This development comes amidst strong opposition from the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, which supports Hezbollah. The bloc has issued a strongly worded statement declaring their complete opposition to direct negotiations with the Zionist regime, asserting that these talks have created division within Lebanon.
