US Concerned Over Netanyahu’s Potential Disruption of Iran Deal, Axios Reports

Washington is reportedly concerned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may attempt to undermine a potential agreement with Iran, even if finalized, according to Axios citing American officials. President Donald Trump has communicated to Netanyahu that the deal is ‘great’ and it’s time to end the conflict.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Axios, citing sources and American officials, reports that there is concern in Washington that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could play a disruptive role even if a deal with Iran is finalized. The news outlet highlighted a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Netanyahu on Thursday night, during which Trump reportedly told Netanyahu that the agreement with Iran is “great” and it is time to end the conflict.

Axios reported that Trump informed Netanyahu of his expectation that the deal with Iran would be finalized within the next few days. One American official told Axios that Netanyahu realized during the call that he could not prevent Trump from reaching an agreement with Iran. It has also been reported that Trump’s social media message regarding the achievement of a deal with Iran surprised Netanyahu.

Axios, quoting another source, reported that Netanyahu found himself outside the negotiation process and contacted his allies in Washington for information. Meanwhile, an American official stated that the White House is confident that Israel will ultimately agree to a ceasefire.

The report also claimed, citing sources, that Trump prevented Israel from carrying out extensive attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure and facilities in the final moments. An American official concluded by telling Axios that if Hezbollah fires missiles at Israel and Iran continues to arm the group, such an action would be contrary to the terms of the agreement.
