US Goals in Iran Shifted to Strait of Hormuz Opening, Report Suggests

A report from The Washington Post indicates that the primary objectives of the United States in its confrontation with Iran have been reduced to ensuring the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, shifting from initial ambitions of regime change.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The American newspaper The Washington Post, in an article referencing the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, stated that U.S. President Donald Trump initiated the conflict against Iran with the aim of fragmenting the country’s sovereignty but ultimately settled for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Hours after midnight, the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council issued a statement regarding the agreement to end the war between Iran and the United States. The statement declared that the Islamic Republic of Iran, under the leadership of its martyred leader, has solidified its superiority against the American-Zionist enemy. Under the directives of the Supreme Leader of the system (may God protect him), the support of all segments of the people, and the valiant efforts of the soldiers of Islam, following a period of several months of difficult and intensive negotiations, and based on the resolution of the Supreme National Security Council, the memorandum of understanding regarding the end-of-war negotiations (Islamabad Negotiations) between Iran and the United States was finalized on the evening of June 14th.

According to the agreements reached, the war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, have ended immediately and permanently. Furthermore, the maritime blockade against Iran will be terminated immediately and completely. The signing of this memorandum of understanding is scheduled to take place formally on Friday, June 19th.
