Trump Aide J.D. Vance Defends Diplomacy with Iran, Denies Goal of Regime Change

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, in a recent statement drawing from Al Jazeera’s reporting via Mehr News Agency, U.S. Vice President’s aide J.D. Vance defended the administration’s approach to negotiations with Iran. Vance emphasized that the current U.S. government seeks concrete results through dialogue.
“President Trump and I do not view direct negotiations with Iran as a ‘reward,’ but rather as a serious step and a targeted approach to achieve outcomes,” Vance stated.
Announcing his participation in the Geneva talks, the Vice President’s aide added, “Just as I was present at the discussions in Pakistan, I will also attend the Geneva negotiations to personally ascertain the Iranian side’s intentions and their seriousness in the dialogue process.”
He concluded by noting, “Washington remains committed to active participation in discussions with Iran and will exert all efforts to achieve positive results that serve the interests of the American people.”
Never Pursued Installing Reza Pahlavi
In an interview with the online television program ‘Megyn Kelly’, Vance asserted that the administration is fully aware of the risks of prolonged conflicts in the region and has no intention of engaging in an endless war of attrition. The United States never intended to fall into a quagmire, as many had warned.
Vance claimed that if Tehran adheres to agreements, the groundwork for economic reconstruction, supported by the Arab states of the Persian Gulf (not the U.S.), will be laid.
Responding to criticism from monarchists regarding Trump’s understanding with Iran, the Vice President’s aide stated that the Trump administration never declared its objective to install Reza Pahlavi or establish a new government in Iran.
Vance further elaborated, “Matters related to Iran’s political structure are issues that should be resolved between the Iranian people and the country’s government. What is important to the United States is halting Iran’s nuclear program.”
He continued, “Currently, there are individuals who say we should send ground troops to Iran. They want Donald Trump to deploy hundreds of thousands of military personnel into Iran. We need people who, from within this current, will resist and oppose this viewpoint.”
The Vice President’s aide asserted that under no circumstances will the United States pay any money to Iran.
Vance, stating that the understanding with Iran also encompasses Lebanon, claimed, “We have fundamentally changed the Middle East, whether Iran abides by it or not.”
The Vice President’s aide concluded by saying, “If Iran fails to implement the terms of the agreement, its nuclear, military, and missile programs will remain dismantled and halted.”
