Macron Hails Iran-US Deal, Cites Global Economic Benefits at G7 Summit

French President Emmanuel Macron announced at the G7 summit that an agreement between Iran and the United States has been reached, which he believes will end negative economic consequences for the world. The summit also addressed regional stability and enhanced support for Ukraine.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Wednesday that the G7 summit convened under complex circumstances, marked by diverse perspectives. He highlighted discussions on Middle East developments, expressing support for a potential agreement between the United States and Iran.

Macron emphasized France’s commitment to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and readiness to participate in demining operations. The French leader also underscored the necessity of stabilizing the ceasefire in Lebanon and respecting its sovereignty. Discussions also revolved around identifying alternative routes for oil and gas transit from the Middle East to circumvent the Strait of Hormuz.

During the summit, G7 nations agreed to bolster air defense capabilities and interception systems for Ukraine. The group pledged to intensify pressure and sanctions against Moscow. Macron indicated that the G7 welcomed and would support the US-Iran agreement due to its anticipated positive impact on the global economy.

Macron also called for a ceasefire in Lebanon and stressed the importance of defending the country’s territorial integrity. He committed to accelerating humanitarian efforts, reconstruction, and the revival of political and security measures in Gaza. Furthermore, he urged an end to violence in the West Bank. The imperative to find alternative routes for oil and gas exports from the Middle East was reiterated. The G7 summit also achieved progress on global economic balance.
