Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir Urges Defiance Against US President Trump

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has publicly urged Israel to defy U.S. President Donald Trump, advocating for the nation’s right to make independent security decisions without American approval.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has called for Israel to learn to oppose and refuse directives from the U.S. President. He urged the Israeli cabinet to reject Donald Trump’s positions when necessary.

Ben-Gvir criticized U.S. restrictions on the Israeli military’s operational freedom in southern Lebanon, stating that a ceasefire in Lebanon cannot be sustained in its current form. He emphasized that Israel must continue military pressure on Hezbollah, regardless of the American stance.

He further asserted that Israel must preserve its decision-making independence and act according to its highest security interests, even if these decisions conflict with U.S. pressures or positions. Israel’s security, he argued, should not be contingent on the permission or approval of any party. Ben-Gvir also stated that until Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese government, no negotiations should be held with the Lebanese government.

These remarks came after Donald Trump called on Tel Aviv to exercise restraint and halt its military operations in Lebanon. This U.S. request is reportedly part of a broader agreement between the United States and Iran, which includes a permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and paves the way for 60-day negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program.
