US Secretary of State Rubio Asserts Lebanon’s Case Separate from Iran

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that Lebanon’s situation is distinct from that of Iran, emphasizing direct engagement with the Lebanese government and its independence. This assertion comes amidst ongoing Israeli actions in Lebanese territory and a broader regional context.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed on Tuesday that Lebanon’s affairs are separate from Iran’s, asserting direct communication with the Lebanese government. “We are in direct contact with the Lebanese government. Lebanon’s case is separate from Iran’s because Lebanon is an independent country with a Lebanese government! We intend to negotiate and reach agreements with the Lebanese government,” Rubio stated, in a position that appears to contrast with understandings between Tehran and Washington.

Disregarding the continued illegal aggression by the Israeli regime on Lebanese soil and violations of the ceasefire, the Secretary of State spoke of Beirut’s independence in a populist manner, adding, “Lebanon’s future belongs to the Lebanese people through their independent and elected government.”

The U.S. Secretary of State, speaking from a position of apparent distress and helplessness in the face of Lebanese resistance, contended, “If Iran’s proxy forces launch missiles, hostilities in the region will not end!”

Marco Rubio, in an effort to obscure Iran’s strategic position in confronting aggressors, alleged, “No country is permitted to impose costs or tariffs on international waterways!”
