Explosions Heard in Saudi Arabia as Abha Airport Targeted

Explosions have been reported in Saudi Arabia, with Abha Airport becoming the target of an attack that has led to the complete suspension of flights. The incident marks a significant escalation of ongoing regional tensions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, reports have emerged of explosions in Saudi Arabia, with Abha Airport being targeted. Sources indicate a complete halt to all flights operating from the airport following the incident.

Some sources attribute the attack to Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, stating that a missile strike originating from Yemen targeted the airport. News outlets have confirmed that a missile directly impacted Abha Airport.

Further reports suggest that Ansar Allah has launched missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia. The international airport in Abha, located in the southwestern region of Saudi Arabia close to the Yemeni border, was identified as the primary target.

There are also indications that the Asir region of Saudi Arabia has been subjected to attacks. Al-Ahed News, an Iraqi media outlet, reported that Abha Airport was struck by both missile and drone assaults. The outlet also noted the sound of explosions heard in Saudi Arabia’s Asir province.

The spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition confirmed the attacks, claiming that Saudi air defenses had intercepted Ansar Allah’s missile strikes. In the aftermath of the Yemeni missile attacks on Abha Airport, Saudi authorities have reportedly prohibited the dissemination of any footage or photographs from the airport premises.
