Netanyahu’s Wife Seeks Extended Security Amidst Election Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli media, including Channel 12, have reported that Sara Netanyahu, wife of the Prime Minister, is attempting to secure an extension of security details for her family members for another five years. This move stems from her apprehension regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu’s potential failure to win the upcoming elections and secure a parliamentary majority to form a cabinet.
The Internal Security Council and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) have yet to respond to this request, which was submitted several weeks ago. However, media reports suggest that under pressure from Netanyahu’s team, the Shin Bet may eventually approve the extension.
The Netanyahu family reportedly fears losing their security protections in the event of an election loss. This concern echoes a situation in 2021 when a new government ceased personal security provisions for Sara and their two children, despite the Prime Minister himself having benefited from such protections for two decades. Netanyahu had previously sought to make these security arrangements permanent for his family in 2024, but faced opposition from officials at the time.
