Hamas Al-Qassam Brigades Commander for Khan Younis Dies in Israeli Drone Strike
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Palestinian Information Center reported the death of Mohammed Al-Yazouri, commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades‘ Khan Younis brigade, in an Israeli assassination operation in the Al-Mawasi area of southern Gaza Strip. Al-Yazouri was killed early Friday in an Israeli drone attack in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. Field sources stated that the drone targeted two individuals moving on the main road near Al-Qubba Mosque in Al-Mawasi, resulting in the death of both.
The intensity of the attack initially made Al-Yazouri’s identification impossible. However, his relatives confirmed his identity among the targeted individuals in the early morning hours. According to released information, Al-Yazouri assumed command of the Al-Qassam Brigades’ Khan Younis brigade after the deaths of Azz al-Din Al-Haddad and Mohammed Odeh in May. Previously, he was responsible for the central and western areas of Khan Younis before being appointed to lead the brigade.
Al-Yazouri was considered a prominent military leader within the Al-Qassam Brigades, holding numerous sensitive security and intelligence positions throughout his career, and his name was linked to several significant military operations. He was also among the commanders who played a role in managing the course of the war and participated in arrangements related to the handover of Israeli prisoners during exchange deals throughout the conflict.
In the same strike that led to the death of Mohammed Al-Yazouri, Hudhaifa Abu Muammar, one of the Al-Qassam Brigades’ engineers and a figure responsible for developing the brigades’ military capabilities, was also killed. He was considered close to the top levels of Hamas’s military command.
The body of the martyr Mohammed Al-Yazouri, known as ‘Abu Al-Haithem,’ was escorted in a funeral procession this morning, Friday, with widespread Palestinian participation. Mourners chanted slogans including ‘Khaybar, Khaybar, O Jews… October 7th will be repeated.’
