Yemen Downs Saudi F-15 Jet with Homegrown Missile

Yemen’s armed forces announced they have successfully shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet using a domestically produced surface-to-air missile. The incident occurred while the jet was reportedly providing air support for Saudi-backed forces.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yemen‘s armed forces spokesperson, Yahya Saree, declared that his forces successfully downed a Saudi Arabian F-15 fighter jet with a locally manufactured surface-to-air missile. Saree stated that the Saudi jet was engaged in a mission to provide air support for mercenaries affiliated with Saudi Arabia. He further added that Yemeni forces engaged another F-15 and a Saudi Typhoon fighter jet within the airspace of Marib. Saree specified that the Saudi aircraft were attempting to locate the wreckage of the downed fighter jet but were forced to retreat due to the response from Yemeni forces. He affirmed the continued commitment to defending Yemen’s airspace against the enemy. In response to what he termed enemy propaganda, Saree emphasized that there is no threat from Yemen against holy sites and that Yemeni operations target enemy oil facilities and military bases. He reported that over 450 airstrikes by Saudi F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets have been carried out against Taiz, Lahj, Al Jawf, Hajjah, Marib, Saada, and Al Bayda, resulting in several casualties.
