Germany Vows Support for International Criminal Court Amid U.S. Pressure

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Germany is set to bolster its support for the International Criminal Court (ICC) amidst growing pressure from the United States. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that Berlin, in collaboration with its international allies, will back the ICC, enabling it to fulfill its mandates effectively.

Baerbock highlighted that the support for the court is not merely a foreign policy consideration for Germany but also an integral part of its historical responsibility. She emphasized the importance of these international bodies in upholding global justice and accountability.

The United States notably does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC and has previously imposed sanctions on the institution and its officials. In recent remarks at the United Nations General Assembly, former President Donald Trump urged member states to withdraw from the court.
