Edinburgh University Staff and Students Protest Against Israeli Regime

Approximately 200 staff and students at the University of Edinburgh gathered to protest the institution’s ties with the Israeli regime, citing complicity in the Gaza situation. Protesters expressed frustration over repeated calls to sever academic and financial connections with Israeli entities.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, approximately 200 staff and students at the University of Edinburgh protested against the Israeli regime on the anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on October 7, 2023. The demonstration, reported by The National Scotland via Mehr News Agency, targeted the university’s relations with “child-killing occupiers” and alleged “complicity in the genocide” in Gaza.

Protesters stated they were fed up with repeated requests made over the past three years for the university to cut its ties with Israeli companies. This protest follows a series of previous actions against the university’s investment decisions and collaborations. These actions have included graffiti on university buildings and the signing of petitions urging the university to “immediately divest its assets” and “end all contracts” with companies complicit with the Israeli regime.
