Iraqi Leader Muqtada al-Sadr Warns US Against Interference in Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a recent address by Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist Movement, has signaled a clear message to the United States regarding its ongoing involvement in Iraq. The warning comes as Iraqi political factions and forces are actively pursuing greater autonomy in their decision-making and seeking to end American hegemony following the withdrawal of U.S. forces.
One recent manifestation of this move toward independence was the effort to reduce the footprint and staff numbers at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to align with international diplomatic standards. Al-Sadr stated that Iraqis have resisted Americans and will stand firm against anyone who occupies their country, reiterating that while they hold no animosity towards anyone, the nation’s independence is paramount.
Addressing the Americans directly, al-Sadr suggested that if a shift in the relationship is desired, it should be conducted with justice and fairness, devoid of arrogance or humiliation. He underscored the Iraqi people’s aspiration to be a free and independent nation, free from any external interference, whether from the East or the West.
Furthermore, al-Sadr advised Washington to improve its standing among the oppressed by adopting a moderate stance towards all parties, without favoring its preferred ally, the Zionist regime. He concluded by asserting that a great power should be a proponent of peace, not an instigator of conflict and war.
