NATO Secretary General: Alliance Defends US Against Russian Nuclear Submarines

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced on Wednesday that the alliance plays a vital role in defending the United States. Rutte clarified his stance on a European army, stating he is not opposed to its formation, but rather to it existing alongside national armies, which he believes would create excessive complexity. He further argued that national sovereignty and NATO’s existing command and control structure make such a European army unnecessary.
Rutte elaborated on NATO’s protective role, stating, “We defend the United States against Russian nuclear submarines that may approach American shores.” He underscored the alliance’s commitment to ensuring the security of the transatlantic region, the Euro-Atlantic area, the High North, and all of Europe, asserting that these efforts are directly aligned with the interests of the United States.
