Russia Calls for Immediate Yemen Ceasefire Amid Rising Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia is urging an immediate cessation of hostilities in Yemen, emphasizing that the current escalation of tensions represents a significant threat to the region’s security. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in an interview with Al Mayadeen that the roadmap agreed upon in late 2023 with Omani mediation could form the basis for resolving the Yemeni crisis.
Zakharova underscored Russia’s call for an immediate ceasefire and the commencement of inclusive dialogue processes. She asserted that there is no alternative to constructive and comprehensive discussions among all relevant parties. The Russian official highlighted the critical importance of preventing the spread of the conflict in Yemen and the involvement of new actors.
Furthermore, Zakharova confirmed Russia’s continued efforts, in collaboration with regional partners, to de-escalate tensions in Yemen. She concluded by stating that any resolution to the crisis must take into account the interests of all parties involved.
