US Senator Criticizes Pentagon Secrecy Over Iranian Attack Damage

Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy has accused the Donald Trump administration and the Pentagon of attempting to conceal the full extent of damages to U.S. military facilities in the Middle East following Iranian attacks this year. Murphy, who visited Qatar and Saudi Arabia in October, stated he was denied access to a military facility in Qatar previously targeted by Iran, demanding transparency from the Department of Defense.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, has placed the Donald Trump administration and the Pentagon under scrutiny, accusing them of attempting to keep secret the precise extent of damage to American military installations in the Middle East during Iranian attacks this year.

The political figure, who traveled to Qatar and Saudi Arabia in October, explained that he personally was unable to obtain permission to visit military facilities in Qatar that had previously been targeted by Iran, prompting him to demand clarification from the U.S. Department of Defense.

During his address at a briefing hosted by the Middle East Institute think tank in Washington, the senator stated: “This is a clear cover-up. They do not want the American people to be aware of the damages incurred to these bases, nor do they want members of Congress to have the opportunity for direct dialogue with military commanders and U.S. forces in the region.”

He further emphasized that military commanders and personnel deployed in the field are typically the most reliable sources for accessing ground realities.

Additionally, in a video released during his trip, he recalled being denied entry to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and expressed his belief that the Pentagon is intentionally seeking to hide the scale of damage sustained by the base.

Previously, NBC News, citing six informed sources, reported that Iranian attacks had caused billions of dollars in significant damage to U.S. military facilities and bases in the Persian Gulf region.
