France Deploys 70000 Security Forces Amid High Alert for Nationwide Protests

French authorities have deployed 70,000 police and law enforcement officers nationwide in preparation for a high-risk Saturday of protests and potential public disorder. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez warned of strict bans on unauthorized evening demonstrations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French authorities have mobilized 70,000 police and law enforcement personnel across the country as the nation braces for a round of widespread public demonstrations. Laurent Nunez announced the massive security deployment, highlighting the government’s strict stance ahead of the weekend.

According to reports from the French television network TF1, the implemented security framework closely mirrors measures deployed on October 24, incorporating stricter regulations and limitations on gatherings within major urban centers. Interior Minister Nunez emphasized that the upcoming Saturday is considered an unusual day carrying a very high risk of public disruption, with unrest potentially extending late into the night.

The French official highlighted calls for gatherings circulating for approximately 8:00 PM local time, alleging that several of these appeals carry a violent tone and explicitly encourage riots or uprisings. He stressed that such gatherings are strictly prohibited, warning that any formed assemblies will be dispersed immediately and participating individuals will face arrest.

Drawing lessons from the severe unrest witnessed during the October 17 demonstrations, Nunez noted that regional prefects have enforced targeted restrictions to prevent protests from taking place in city centers. In alignment with these directives, authorities have intensified entry controls into various cities and positioned security forces extensively nationwide.

The anticipated Saturday demonstrations mark the third consecutive week of nationwide strikes and rallies in France, following previous protests on October 17 and October 24 centered around deteriorating living standards and educational conditions.
