Donald Trump Prepares for Potential Loss of Congressional Control Amid Tough Midterms

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly acknowledged behind closed doors that the Republican Party faces a difficult political landscape, raising the possibility that Democrats could capture control of both chambers of Congress.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted in private consultations with close advisors and allies that a challenging scenario could unfold, resulting in Democrats taking over the management of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Internal party evaluations and comprehensive polling data indicate that the current political climate in the United States heavily favors the opposition, creating significant hurdles for the Republican Party. During his final campaign address near the Lincoln Memorial, President Trump implicitly conceded that incumbent leaders generally face an uphill battle in these races, a stance interpreted by media outlets as an early acknowledgment of potential setbacks.

The legislative elections involved all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, 35 out of the 100 seats in the Senate, and gubernatorial races across 36 states. Republicans currently hold a narrow margin of 218 to 214 seats in the House, requiring the Democratic opposition to secure just four additional seats to claim an outright majority. Prominent political research organizations, including the Cook Political Report, have projected that the Democratic faction could capture anywhere from 12 to 25 new seats. Meanwhile, the Senate features a Republican advantage of 53 to 47, though pathways to a Democratic majority remain narrower due to traditional state alignments.

A potential Democratic victory in these legislative contests could trigger substantial consequences, including legislative gridlock for White House policy initiatives, the opening of aggressive congressional investigations against the administration, and renewed discussions regarding presidential impeachment proceedings.
