Trump Admits Impact of Iran Conflict on Midterms and Defends Military Actions

United States President Donald Trump has acknowledged that the military conflict with Iran influenced the country’s midterm elections. However, he defended his administration’s decisions and military actions.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US President Donald Trump has admitted to the impact of the war against Iran on the nation’s midterm elections, stating that he was aware the conflict would influence the electoral outcome.

Reiterating his allegations regarding Iran’s nuclear program, Trump claimed that Tehran must not be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. Defending his decision to launch the military campaign against Iran, he remarked that given another opportunity, he would make the exact same choice, asserting that his administration successfully dismantled Iran’s military capabilities.

In an effort to deflect public pressure and justify the setbacks faced by Republicans—which were heavily influenced by the Iran conflict—Trump claimed success in Washington’s approach, noting that the Strait of Hormuz remains open. Regarding the economic fallout, he stated that the conflict caused a short-term, slight increase in gasoline prices, adding that he had anticipated oil prices surging far higher due to the war.

Addressing domestic political tensions in Washington, Trump revealed that Democrats had reached out to initiate discussions on various issues, which he described as a positive development. He expressed optimism about reaching agreements with Democrats unless they adopt a destructive approach.

Criticizing the opposition, Trump alleged that Democrats are seeking to support “murderers,” while emphasizing that his administration retains veto power should disagreements persist. Seeking to rationalize the Republican Party’s electoral setbacks, he claimed that Republicans would have emerged victorious had his name appeared on the ballots, and commended the Speaker of the House for an exceptional performance amid ongoing leadership contests within the party.
